Muted a bit by intervening clouds, the view from over 50 miles away of the flaming exhaust of the Delta 2 rocket carrying a new Global Positioning Satellite, GPS 2R-13, into orbit. After being delayed for months by a wave of hurricanes and technical problems, the rocket finally took off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 12:39 a.m. on 6 November 2004.
